How I met the Love of My Life
One year after my divorce, I became a member of the Christian Cafe online dating service. The truth is I wasn't really looking for a date, I just wanted to be able to meet and talk with new people. I worked on the weekend shift, it abled me to be a stay at home mom to my daughter during the week. I was so busy during the week that I didn't have time to get together with people to just talk or hang out.
After I had been a member for a while I did end up going on a date with this guy, we dated for a short time. I was living with my parents at the time, and a couple of months later my mom was on the computer, she wanted to check out that dating site. (In other words she wanted to see who She could find for me to go out with)
A few minutes after she had been on the site, she tells me that she found this profile of this guy she wanted to show me. I told her that I am not interested! She kept bugging me until I finally gave in to her. My mom said,"Now, that's a good looking manly man!" "You need to send him a email!" I said, "Yes he is, but I am still not interested in dating again." Our first date was on a friday in the middle of May 2002. His name's Lance and he drove 3 hours to come and meet me, (I have never had a guy drive that far to meet me before). When he got to my house he came in and we talked a little, he met my daughter and my mom. I notice him looking at me alot. We went to the "Olive Garden", I had the lasagna and he had the Tour of Italy. Afterwards we went to play putt-putt then we went to eat dessert.
When I got home my daughter, Ellen was in the bed, I went in to check on her, thinking she was asleep, well she wasn't, she had been waiting on me and I will never forget what she said to me. "Moma, before you left the house for your date... Lance was checking you out!" I laughed so hard I couldn't hardly stop, I couldn't believe she said that!(she was 10 years old at that time)
We talked on the phone everyday, and two weeks after our first date he came to see me again. After our second date I knew in my heart that Lance was the man that the Lord wanted me to spend the rest of my life with. I thank the Lord for bringing us together through my mom and "christian cafe".
